Update on my Sango kaku

The leaves are starting to change colour in the middle of summer -that's interesting ... or should I say sun burnt instead? Compare the two with the last photo taken in spring-time.

10th Update on my Heritage rose

Well, the flowering has nearly finish...yesterday was incredibly hot, forcing most of the buds to open. The flowers look glossy white in full sun and get blown away easily in windy conditions.
I was planning to buy another David Austin rose called, "Comtes de Campaign" but have to postpone this to a later date. We are currently in stage 3 water restriction. There hasn't been any rain-fall in Melbourne and if this drought going to keep up, melbournians would most likely be drinking reycled water.
This morning, the sky looks a bit gloomy and still very humid. There's a possible thunderstorm.
One flower looks apricot-ish while the other look pink-ish.

My other plants...

This is a japanese maple called, "Sango-Kaku", otherwise known as Coral Bark.
This tree has been with me for about 4 years. It's growing in a pot because I'm renting and would like to bring all my plants with me if I decided to move.
This tree develops lush green leaves in spring-time and gets sun burnt during the summer period. Would have been a lot taller and bushier if it was grown in the ground instead of a pot. During windy condtions, the pot tends to tip over, causing some branches to break.
The first 3 years were disappointing - never get to see the fall colours because by the end of the summer period the leaves would already scorched and turned brown.
This year, I've decided to move this tree to a shady area and avoid the sun as much as I could and water deeply every morning.
No signs of aphids this year which is a very good news.

9th Update on my Heritage rose

Look how innocent and sweet she is...

Relax...and enjoy this beautiful day.

The weather was nice and sunny. What would be a better way to spend the day other than strolling along the city and enjoying the views of the river?

8th Update on my Heritage rose

I think I have fallen in love with this rose! I can't stop taking pictures of her. It's the type of pink I've been looking for - soft and girly. Would be nice if it was a tiny bit darker...but overall, very nice and pure.

7th Update on my Heritage rose

More close-up shots. This time, when the sun isn't glaring. This time I could smell a touch of fragrance.

5th Update on my Heritage rose

When one finishes flowering, the other two finally opened up this morning. I could not smell any fragrance yet.

4th Update on my Heritage rose

The petals get blown away very easy. But still, this shrub is a great value for money. As you can see closely, there are about 20+ buds waiting to be open.

3rd Update on my Heritage rose

The date is Thursday,11th and this morning, the same old flower greeted me with this colour. It's still blooming! I can see other buds begining to have a blush pink colour. There are 2 other buds with a whitish colour.

2nd Update on my Heritage rose

Later in this afternoon, I took more photos of this plant. Yes, this is the same old bud as before...a very dull pinkish colour starting to appear.
I saw earlier that there was a bit of an apricot-ish colour appear in the petals. My Heritage rose seems to be a lot lighter than other Heritage rose found in the net. Thanks to some rose fanatics at GardenWeb.com who told me that first blooms are often misleading in color and form. Hopefully a much brighter pink appear in other buds.

Update on my Heritage rose...

Well, this morning, the same old bud greeted me with this pale color. At 9:30 this morning, the weather was already humid outside. I wasn't expecting this form of colour. I was hoping for a "girly" pink. Again, this is a close up view captured by my camera. If I was standing there and looking at this rose 1 metres away, the colour would be a lot dull-er than this photo.

My David Austin rose, "Heritage"

Went to GardenWorld at SpringVale on Sunday and purchased this shrub. It was the only rose that looked healthy and free from black spots. When I arrived home, I potted it, and the next morning one of the buds started to open.

The weather in Australia has been very hot and humid for the past few days. The bud was almost white, and dull in colour. Some how, my digital camera was able to capture the pink-ish colour in the shade.
